What Tagrisso™ (osimertinib) is use for?
TAGRISSO is a kinase inhibitor indicated for the treatment of patients with
metastatic epidermal growth factor receptor (EGFR) T790M mutationpositive non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC), as detected by an FDAapproved test, who have progressed on or after EGFR TKI therapy.
This indication is approved under accelerated approval based on tumor
response rate and duration of response. Continued approval for this indication
may be contingent upon verification and description of clinical benefit in
confirmatory trials
Osimertinib is used to treat locally advanced or metastatic non-small-cell lung cancer (NSCLC), if the cancer cells are positive for the T790M mutation in the gene coding for EGFR or for activating EGFR mutations. The T790M mutation may be de novo or acquired following first-line treatment with other tyrosine kinase inhibitors (TKIs), such as gefitinib and afatinib.
